Ep. 18 — Unveiling the Human Connection: Broward 211’s Approach to Crisis and Support

Welcome to another compelling episode of Bravo Unscripted! Today we are diving deep into the heart of community service and mental health advocacy. In today’s episode, we explore Broward 211, an indispensable lifeline within our community, providing round-the-clock crisis support and resources.

Joining us are two incredibly influential guests. Sheila Smith, a 30-year veteran of non-profit management and the current President and CEO of Broward 2-1-1. Alongside Sheila, is Tracy Schuldiner, another long-time advocate with more than 20 years in the nonprofit sphere in Broward and the Chief Advancement and Community Relations Officer at Broward 2-1-1.

We'll uncover the personal touches behind the vital work they do. Both of our guests share their personal bonds with mental health struggles and the breadth of their organization's outreach, including the unique Touchline program providing daily safety checks for isolated older adults.

Of course, no conversation about such important work would be complete without addressing the support and care for those who care for others. Sheila and Tracy will shed light on the robust support systems in place for their dedicated helpline staff.

And don’t miss out as Tracy gives us the inside scoop on the upcoming 13th Annual Community Care Plan Nonprofit Awards, which stands to significantly impact nonprofit organizations across Broward County.

It’s an episode filled with heartfelt stories, practical insights, and a resounding message: you're not alone, and it's absolutely okay to reach out for help. Stay tuned as we unravel the layers of compassion and commitment that define Broward 211 and how it strengthens the fabric of our shared humanity.
